Once your donation is accepted, a licensed towing partner contacts you to schedule a pickup time that works for you. Carma arranges pickup at no cost to you — you don't pay towing fees.

Do I need the title?

In most states a title in the donor's name makes the process fastest. Title requirements vary by state, and in some cases alternate paperwork is possible. Our team will tell you exactly what's needed for your state before pickup.

Will you take a vehicle that doesn't run?

Usually, yes. We accept vehicles in almost any condition, including non-running and damaged ones. Acceptance depends on location, condition and towing access, so we confirm before scheduling.

What about tax deductions?

When your donation goes to an eligible 501(c)(3) organization, you may be able to claim a deduction. The amount depends on IRS rules and how the vehicle is used or sold. We provide donation documentation where applicable. Carma is not a tax advisor — please consult one about your situation.

How do charities receive proceeds?

Donated vehicles are sold or recycled through our partner network. Net proceeds — after towing, processing and administrative costs — are distributed to the participating charitable organization. Specific distribution details for each charity are shown on their partner page.

How long does the whole process take?

Most donors finish the online form in a few minutes. Pickup is typically scheduled within a few business days of acceptance, and donation paperwork follows after the vehicle is sold or processed.
